All three men have shown considerable interest in their studies and have been working within the museum on cataloguing and checking collections so as to become totally familiar with items on exhibit and the stories about each of these items.

Ray Yallop is a retired person who operates a glass studio within the craft sector of the museum. He relocated to Dundee 2 years ago to set up his glass business and has become increasingly interested in the museum and the battlefield. He works in the museum over weekends and found the questions from visitors piqued his interest. He takes great care and delight in explaining the events of the battle and in showing visitors around the museum.

Norman Leveridge came to work at the museum on a part time basis as a research assistant and to assist in creating the data bases of documents in the archives. He has always been interested in the history of the area as he lives on a historic farm and has a passion about military uniforms and the blockhouses of the Anglo Boer War. He also paints scale models of soldiers in uniform from the Anglo Zulu and Anglo Boer wars. Working with documents in the archives led him to ask more and more questions and he jumped at the opportunity to undergo the tour guide training course. He is also a registered nature guide.

Bornwell Masuku has shown considerable interest in the museum collections and in explaining them, particularly to school groups. For some time he has been doing informal training within the museum but has now undergone the registered training course and is excited at this new development for his future. He has a deep interest in Zulu cultural history and coal mining.
